Fantastic session (very nearly perfect)

Wind was a bit light so rigged up my largest (8.0) sail and the wifes 140L powerglide. Lent J... my Phoenix and he also rigged an 8.0.

First run showed that there were gusts blowing through, but managed to catch one, hooked in, stepped back into the straps and......wow....fantastic....Sail rigged well....harness lines perfect...water very flat...no boats to get in the way...and barely anyone else on the water!

Had a couple of marginal runs and then it all came together again. Sailing fully powered up, very comfortable, right across the traditional sailing area and beyond! Turned round and 'hammered' back once again screaming my head off. Then found some bouys in the water and impressed myself by footsteering throught them 'slalom style'

I have now looked at the map and I must have been sailing about 3/4 of a mile without interuption, also much further out than normal (past the starters platform, into and along the channel and then on to Salterns marina).

To make matters even better the sun was shining and the wind direction meant I was facing Brownsea Island and the Purbeck Hills....great for atmosphere, especially as the sun started to go down!

J... was also having a great time in straps and harness parting the waters to perfection (see his entry in the diary)

So why not perfect? Well I was a bit underpowered and had to keep driving downwind except for during the gusts so every now and then I had to bite the bullet and drive (or walk) upwind to regain my position.

Overall and great day out :-)
I just wish there was a 4.5 star rating, or maybe even a 4.9!
